The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates became involved in a bench-clearing melee after Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez and Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole began arguing after Gomez's third-inning triple.

Cole appeared to be upset that Gomez spent some time admiring what he thought would be a home run before the ball hit against the centerfield wall and Gomez began running the base paths more aggressively.

As the exchange heated up both teams poured onto the field and punches were thrown by both sides. When the dust settled both Gomez and Pittsburgh outfielder Travis Snider were ejected from the game.
