Milwaukee Brewers' third baseman Aramis Ramirez will be placed on the disabled list after injuring his hamstring against the new York Yankees on Saturday night, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

Ramirez began grabbing his left hamstring after fielding a ground ball in the fourth inning, and came out of the game shortly after a trainer examined the injured leg on the field.

The team hopes to activate outfielder Ryan Braun when Ramirez is placed on the disabled list on Tuesday, but would prefer to get him a rehab start with a minor league squad before the former MVP returns from a strained right rib cage.
