Martin Perez to undergo MRI for sore left elbow, will miss Rangers' game at Astros

Lefty Martin Perez will undergo an MRI this week to further diagnose a sore left elbow and he will subsequently miss the Rangers' away game on Wednesday against the Astros, according to a tweet on Sunday from Fox Sports West's Anthony Andro.

The 23-year-old had a 26-inning scoreless streak going into April but gave up 19 runs over his past three starts, so clearly something is going on with his elbow. In his place on Wednesday, Nick Tepesch will get the start, who had made his MLB debut with the Rangers last year, compiling a record of 4-6 with a 4.48 ERA and 76 strikeouts heading into this season.

At 19-19, the Rangers are currently second from the bottom of the AL West, ahead of only the Astros.
