Report: Red Bulls sign Danish winger Nielsen

The New York Red Bulls are set to land midfielder Brian Nielsen, currently with Danish club Vejle Boldklub. Reports out of Denmark earlier this week indicated that the 23-year-old Nielsen, has been acquired by Red Bull Salzburg and will be lent to its sister club in MLS. Nielsen is expected to complete the 2010 season in MLS, before moving to Salzburg in January 2011.

"He's a great talent who hasn't bloomed really the way he should," said New York general manager Erik Soler to the New York Post. "We hope we can bring him to our cluib in that environment and get that from him."

Nielsen becomes the latest Vejle player to switch to MLS, following in the footsteps of Kansas City Wizards goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen and New York's other recent signing, forward Salou Ibrahim.
