Everton: Club has not received a bid for Tim Howard from Colorado Rapids
Everton manager Roberto Martinez said the club has had no contact with the Colorado Rapids about goalkeeper Tim Howard, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“At the moment there is nothing,” Martinez said when asked about if he had received inquiries for the goalkeeper. “There is nothing to comment on.”
The Rapids were interested in signing Howard, according to an ESPN report from Jan. 15.
Howard, 36, remains under contract at Everton until 2018 and has previously said that he will play his contract out before retiring after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Howard had a notable performance when he recorded 15 saves in the round-of-16 defeat against Belgium during the 2014 World Cup. The goalkeeper played in the MLS with the MetroStars from 1998 to 2003 before joining Manchester United for four season. Howard was then loaned to Everton for 2006–07 season.
Everton lost to Swansea City 2–1 on Sunday.
