Speculation has heightened that Monaco winger Thomas Lemar could be set for a move to Arsenal after he posed for a photo with a Gunners fan in Switzerland.

The Arsenal supporter quickly took to Twitter to reveal how happy the Frenchman had been to have his photo taken.

The fan told his followers on Twitter: “OMG! I met Thomas Lemar in Saillon, Switzerland.

“He seemed really happy taking photos with me. Definitely Arsenal bound!

“I asked him if he is joining Arsenal, he gave me a smile and walked away.

“I’m positive he will sign after Monaco’s trip to Switzerland!”

Whether the 21-year-old was simply being polite remains to be seen, although he has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be determined to complete the signing of Lemar having already brought in compatriot Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

But Monaco are reportedly reluctant to sell after losing Bernardo Silva to Manchester City and Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea.

Left-back Benjamin Mendy is also expected to leave the club for City in a £40m deal, while Kylian Mbappe is still interesting Real Madrid.

Arsenal could, however, find themselves with more money to spend should Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil be sold before the close of the transfer window in September.

Lemar was a stand out performer in a prolific Monaco side last season, scoring nine goals and providing ten assists in Ligue 1.
