Ledecky, Jaeger set American records at nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Olympians Katie Ledecky and Connor Jaeger each set American records in winning the 1,650-yard freestyle races Saturday night at the U.S. winter national championships.

Ledecky lowered her own record in the women's race with a time of 15 minutes, 13.30 seconds. Jaeger won the men's race in 14:23.52.

Ledecky's time was nearly two seconds faster than her old mark of 15:15.17 set last year. She earned her third win of the meet, to go with titles in the 200 and 500 free. Ledecky earned the women's high point award for the meet.

Olympian Nathan Adrian won the 100 freestyle in 41.31 for his third victory of the meet. He became the first man to sweep the 50, 100 and 200 free at a single short-course yards national championship.
