Styles then signed the contract.

Rhodes said the mutual respect goes away at Backlash. He said Styles seems to have implied he can't handle the pressure of being the Undisputed WWE Champion. He said facing Styles isn't a dream match, it's a must-win. He then signed the contract, making this title match official.

Carmelo dropped Cody with an elbow once the show returned from a commercial break. The two exchanged chops in the corner. Carmelo hit a springboard DDT for a two-count.

Cody Cutter landed, but it only got Rhodes a near fall. Hayes dropped Cody and went for a dive, but Cody got out of the way. They both went for springboard moves, but missed. Cody countered for the Cross Rhodes and he hit it for the win. Rhodes' shoulder appeared to be damaged during the match, and hopefully it isn't a legit issue.
