Real Madrid continued its strong run under the new direction of new manager Xabi Alonso, earning a hard-fought 1-0 win over Juventus in the FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16. They are second betting favorite to win the event with +270 odds at FanDuel. 

Dortmund squeaked by Monterrey in the Round of 16, 2-1, on a pair of early goals from Serhou Guirassy. Their aggressive attacking style will be put to the test against Real Madrid’s revamped defense, which has conceded two goals in four matches during this tournament and since Alonso took the helm. 

Real Madrid is a prohibitive betting favorite to win this match. If they do, they could face PSG, the tournament’s betting favorite, in the semifinals. PSG faces Bayern Munich in the Round of 16.

Dortmund will want to take the game to Real Madrid, but Los Blancos' defense has withstood the tests thus far. Surely they haven’t faced the quality of attack Dortmund will offer, but they can also take advantage of any over aggressiveness from Dortmund on the counter. 

Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Gonzalo Garcia are all threats to score or create scoring opportunities for their teammates. That versatility provides options for Real and cause trouble for Dortmund’s defense, which is susceptible to letups. 

The odds on PSG’s team total sway heavily, with the OVER on 1.5 goals -184 and the OVER on 2.5 goals set at +190. Rather than expect them to three or more, I’m going to instead rely on their steady defense to keep Dortmund off the board. Dortmund was held scoreless against Fluminense in their group opener and I think PSG will keep a clean sheet with a solid payout.
