Duke-Georgia Tech matchup headlines Week 7 in ACC

A look at things to watch in the Atlantic Coast Conference during Week 7 of the season:

GAME OF THE WEEK: Duke at No. 22 Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets (5-0, 2-0 ACC) are tied with Virginia atop the league's Coastal Division and next host reigning division champion Duke (4-1, 0-1). The Blue Devils have already lost in the division to Miami and can't afford to slip further back. Of note: the Yellow Jackets have won 10 straight in the series, including all six since David Cutcliffe began his program-building project in Durham.

BEST MATCHUP: Clemson QB Deshaun Watson vs. Louisville's defense. The Cardinals are allowing a league-low 12.7 points and a national-best 230.2 yards per game. But they're taking on a freshman quarterback who threw for a school-record six touchdowns against North Carolina on Sept. 27 and then accounted for four scores against North Carolina State last week. Cardinals coach Bobby Petrino said Watson is ''very impressive on video'' and will be a big challenge. ''There's a lot of things we need to do but obviously you have to be successful on first down stopping the run and try to get him in third-and-long,'' he said.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Wake Forest is the only league team with a punt return for a touchdown - and that was an end-zone recovery of a blocked punt in Week 1. Last year, league teams returned 13 punts for touchdowns, including an ACC-record five coming from North Carolina's Ryan Switzer to tie an NCAA single-season record.

LONG SHOT: North Carolina, who opened the year in the Top 25 as a Coastal Division favorite, is a mess right now but still has the potential to put up points at No. 6 Notre Dame. UNC (2-3, 0-2) has been inconsistent on offense but is still averaging 36 points per game and can score in flurries. Coach Larry Fedora has been pushing his team to correct recurring small mistakes throughout the lineup. The Fighting Irish, coming off a win against Stanford, opened as a 16 1/2-point favorite and ranks third nationally by allowing 12 points per game. ''Fortunately or unfortunately, we're fixing to play a really good football team, so I look at it as a tremendous opportunity,'' Fedora said.

IMPACT PLAYER: Miami freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya has thrown for 10 touchdowns in the past four weeks heading into a home game with Cincinnati of the American Athletic Conference. Kaaya has thrown for 1,520 yards and 13 touchdowns in the first six games, including a school freshman-record 359 yards at Nebraska.
