Stanford WR Ty Montgomery out vs. UCLA with shoulder injury
Stanford senior wide receiver Ty Montgomery will not play in the team's regular-season finale against ninth-ranked UCLA on Friday because of a right shoulder injury, Stanford head coach David Shaw said.
Montgomery was injured in the first quarter of Stanford's 38-17 win at California on Saturday after he was tackled making a catch. Montgomery injured the same shoulder last season and had surgery in February. Shaw said Montgomery has a different injury in the same shoulder, but did not go into details.
"Ty will be out of this game," Shaw said during the Pac-12 coaches' teleconference. "He will not play this game, and hopefully we'll get him ready for the bowl game, which looks like a distinct possibility."
The Cardinal (6-5, 4-4 Pac-12) will have to find a way to generate offense without Montgomery against the Bruins. Stanford is the Pac-12 lowest scoring team, averaging 25 points a game.
Montgomery leads the team with 61 catches for 604 yards and three touchdowns. He also has 144 rushing yards and has returned two punts for touchdowns this season.
UCLA (9-2, 6-2 Pac-12) will win the Pac-12 South and face Oregon in the Pac-12 championship if it beats Stanford.
