Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen has not talked to Michigan
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen said he has not been in contact with any other schools about coaching jobs, Michael Bonner of The Clarion-Ledger reports.
After leading the Bulldogs to a 10-2 season and berth in the Orange Bowl, Mullen has been speculated as a candidate for the Michigan coaching job after Brady Hoke was fired earlier this month.
Mullen told The Clarion-Ledger that he has only been in contact with Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin to work out a contract extension. Mullen's current contract pays him around $3 million and continues for three more years. An extension would increase his salary and add another year to the deal, as state employees are limited to four-year contracts in Mississippi.
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze received a contract extension earlier this month after the Rebels finished 9-3. Freeze signed a four-year extension that will reportedly increase his pay from $3 million to more than $4 million.

Hoke was fired after Michigan went 5-7 and didn't qualify for a bowl for just the third time in 40 years. He finished 31-20 in four seasons as Michigan's head coach.
LSU coach Les Miles said he has also not been contacted by Michigan and is not a candidate for the job.
Michigan reportedly contacted San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh about the job. Harbaugh, who played quarterback for the Wolverines from 1983-1986, said he wants to stay in the NFL.
