Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb tweeted Thursday afternoon that he thinks Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones should return to school in 2015.

Jones, who started the 2014 college football season as Ohio State's third-string quarterback, is set to announce whether he will enter the NFL draft on Thursday afternoon. Jones led the Buckeyes to a national championship earlier this week, following up wins over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship and Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal with a victory over Oregon in the title game.

McNabb said he thought Jones would benefit from another year in school.

Jones was thrust into the Buckeyes' starting lineup after quarterback J.T. Barrett sustained a leg injury against Michigan, knocking him out for the rest of the season. Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, who was projected as a Heisman Trophy candidate before the season, sustained a season-ending shoulder injury during the preseason.

Jones finished the 2014 season with 860 passing yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions.

McNabb, who played at Syracuse before being drafted with the No. 2 pick in the 1999 NFL draft, was a six-time Pro Bowler in 13 NFL seasons, 11 of which came with the Philadelphia Eagles
