Misdemeanor charge against Florida QB Treon Harris dropped
A misdemeanor charge of driving without a license against Florida Gators quarterback Treon Harris has been dropped, according to the Associated Press.
The AP reports that the second-degree misdemeanor charge was dropped on Wednesday, a day before Harris was scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment.
Last month, Harris was stopped by University of Florida campus police for speeding. Police reportedly noticed an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and discovered two plastic bags of marijuana in the car. Possession charges were not filed against Harris or teammates Jalen Tabor and J.C. Jackson, who were passengers in the car.
Police also found that Harris was operating the vehicle without a license. The AP reports that Harris' attorney said that the quarterback recently obtained his driver's license, which allowed the charge to be dropped.
Harris, who replaced Jeff Driskel as the Gators' starting quarterback in October, passed for 1,019 yards and nine touchdowns with four interceptions this season. He also rushed for 332 yards and three touchdowns.
