Alabama's Reggie Ragland, Jarran Reed returning for senior seasons
Alabama linebacker Reggie Raglan and defensive lineman Jarran Reed will return to school for their senior seasons, the school announced on Thursday.
Over 13 games (and 12 starts) this season, Ragland recorded 95 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one quarterback hurry and three fumble recoveries.
"I've thought a lot about this decision and talked to my family, Coach Saban, and everyone close to me," Ragland said in a news release. "I'm going to return to the University of Alabama for my senior season. One of the big factors for me and my family is earning my degree and I'm on track to graduate. You only form a brotherhood like this once and I look forward to spending another season here with my teammates. Roll Tide."
Reed recorded 55 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks and five pass breakups in 13 games (and 12 starts).

"After sitting down with my family, Coach Saban and Coach Davis, I have decided to return to Alabama for my senior year," Reed said. "I am on track to finish my degree and that is very important to me. The chance to play in the NFL is still my dream, but I am excited about another year at Alabama with my teammates. I learned a lot being here last year, and I'm confident another year will only improve my chances to succeed in the future."
The 6-foot-2, 254-pound Ragland was named to the Associated Press's All-SEC first team, while the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Reed was an honorable mention.
News that the two defensive standouts are returning comes after running back T.J. Yeldon, wide receiver Amari Cooper and safety Landon Collins declared for the draft earlier this month.
The Tide finished 12-2 this season after falling to eventual national champion Ohio State in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.
