Utah State QB Chuckie Keeton granted extra year of eligibility
Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton has been granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA and the Mountain West conference, after his previous two seasons had been cut short by knee injuries, the quarterback himself confirmed on Friday.
Keeton tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee during a game against BYU on Oct. 4, 2013, ending that season early. On Sept. 13, 2014, during the Aggies' third game of the season against Wake Forest, he sustained another injury to the same knee, again ending his season early.

During Keeton's sophomore season in 2012, he started all 13 games, completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 3,373 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and earned 619 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
He played just six games in 2013, throwing for 1,388 yards, 18 touchdowns and two interceptions. In 2014 he was limited by his surgically repaired knee. He appeared in only three games, attempting less than 100 passes and throwing for only 426 yards.
Coach Matt Wells has said Keeton's rehab is going well but is not yet sure how much he will participate in spring practices. Keeton holds the school record with a .665 completion percentage, and is second in touchdown passes, with 56, and in total completions, at 517.
Utah State finished last year with then-freshman Kent Myers at quarterback. Myers played in seven games, throwing for 866 yards and five touchdowns. The Aggies will also have Darell Garretson and Damion Hobbs on the roster at quarterback next season.

The Aggies finished last season with a 10-4 overall record, going 6-2 in their conference. They closed the season with a victory over UTEP Miners in the New Mexico Bowl.
