Three Morgan State players stabbed on campus
Three Morgan State football players were stabbed on the school's Baltimore campus Tuesday afternoon, police said, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Two of the three victims were transported to a local hospital, the school's president, David Wilson, said in a statement. The third victim was treated on the scene. One victim is listed in critical but stable condition, though his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Wilson said.
One person has been apprehended by police and several potential witnesses are in custody as well, Wilson said. No arrests have been made.
The incident occurred outside a campus dining hall, which is located next to the practice football field. Tuesday was the first day of spring practice for the football team.
A school spokesman told the Sun the incident may be related to fights that broke out at a campus dance over the weekend.
This is the second stabbing at Morgan State in the past three days. On Friday, a student stabbed his roommate with a pair of scissors, according to the Sun.
Tuesday's stabbing occurred in the same vicinity as a 2012 shooting that injured a sophomore offensive lineman.
Wilson encouraged students to gather with him in a campus theater for "a campus-wide conversation around the values we hold high" Tuesday evening.
