Jonathan Taylor accuser says her bruises were self-inflicted
The woman who accused former Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor of domestic violence and then recanted her story told police that the bruises officers saw on her neck were self-inflicted, according to court documents obtained by AL.com.
The woman originally told police Taylor became physical with her and damaged her apartment. He was arrested and dismissed from the football program after the woman said that he caused injuries to her neck.
Taylor was later charged with domestic violence third-degree assault and domestic violence third-degree criminal mischief. On Monday, the woman contacted police and said she was not harmed by Taylor. Police then arrested the woman and charged her with false reporting to law enforcement. In addition to saying her injuries were self-inflicted, she told authorities that the damage in her apartment was caused before Saturday.
Alabama dismissed Taylor from the team on Sunday. A school spokesperson told AL.com Thursday that Taylor is no longer a student at the university and is not eligible for future readmission.
Taylor joined the Crimson Tide over the off-season after he was dismissed from the football program at Georgia last July. He was dismissed following an arrest for felony assault and domestic battery after he allegedly struck his girlfriend with a closed fist and choked her. The charges against him from that incident are still pending.
Taylor was also one of four Georgia players arrested and charged with "theft by deception" last March for cashing athlete stipend checks twice.
