Ohio State’s Braxton Miller reinstated following endorsement post

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has been reinstated with no conditions.

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has been reinstated with no conditions following an Instagram post that appeared to show him endorsing a series of nutritional products, the NCAA announced on Thursday.

While he quickly deleted it, Miller posted a photo of him with a variety of AdvoCare supplements that seemed to be an endorsement of the brand. Last month, it was reported that the NCAA was investigating the incident as a potential endorsement violation.

Ari Wasserman of The Plain Dealer reported that Ohio State was expecting a secondary violation and Miller to retain his eligibility. Wasserman’s report proved to be correct after the NCAA released the following statement:

The NCAA has determined that Braxton Miller’s Instagram post on March 24, 2015, was deemed to be a promotion of a commercial product. The Ohio State University Dept. of Athletics reported the incident to the NCAA, and the NCAA has reinstated Braxton’s eligibility without any conditions. This was considered a minor violation and the matter is now closed.

Miller is a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, but he missed all of last season after re-injuring his throwing shoulder in August.

He is in a three-way competition with Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett to be the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes next season.
