Cal parts ways with recruiting coordinator Pierre Ingram after arrest
Cal football announced it will not renew the contract of assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Pierre Ingram following his arrest last week, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Ingram was arrested in Oakland, Calif., last week in a prostitution sting. He allegedly solicited an undercover officer online and then showed up on April 16 at a motel to meet her. He was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor solicitation of a lewd act and was booked, cited and released.
On Tuesday, Cal had said that Ingram was on administrative leave as the school looked into the matter. He served as the Golden Bears' passing game coordinator, wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.
"As you are aware, assistant football coach Ingram was placed on paid administrative leave following his recent arrest for solicitation. We are not renewing his contract and he will no longer represent or act on behalf of this university in any capacity," Cal said in a statement.
Ingram, 30, released a statement through an attorney on Monday saying he is "deeply sorry for the embarrassment or pain that he's caused to his family, first and foremost, and to the university."
According to the Mercury News, Ingram is scheduled to appear in court next month.
