Maryland suspends sophomore receiver Juwann Winfree indefinitely
Maryland wide receiver Juwann Winfree has been suspended indefinitely for violating the university's student-athlete code of conduct, the team announced Monday.
Two sources told The Baltimore Sun's Don Markus that the suspension is not the result of a failed drug test, nor have any criminal charges been filed against Winfree.
Winfree, a rising sophomore, caught eight passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns in eight games last season. He was suspended for the final two games of the season for a violation of the code of conduct.
Maryland's top four receivers from last season are no longer with the program. StefonDiggs declared for the NFL draft, Deon Long graduated, Marcus Leakwithdrew from school last month and Jacquille Veii transferred.

Only two of the other seven receivers on Maryland's roster caught a pass last season. Levern Jacobs, who was the team's leading receiver in 2013, was suspended for the 2014 season after being charged with second-degree assault before the start of the season. He was found not guilty in December and has returned to the team.
