Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads announced on Monday that Mark Mangino will no longer be the team’s offensive coordinator for the Cyclones.

“Mark and I couldn't get on the same page on a few important items,” Rhoads said. “We tried to talk that through again this morning in an effort to get us moving in a different direction. In the end, Mark was not interested in that. I wish that wasn't the case, but I respect and understand his conviction.”

Passing game coordinator Todd Sturdy will take over for Mangino.

Mangino was hired by Iowa State in 2014 after he was an assistant coach at Youngstown State and the head coach for Kansas. He led the Jayhawks to a 50–48 record in eight seasons.

The Cyclones are 2–5 so far this season, averaging 26.9 points per game. In Mangino’s first season last year, the team finished 2–10.

Iowa State is set to play Texas at home on Saturday.
