CINCINNATI — We are inside a month before the 2022-23 UC men's basketball season tips off, and CBS Sports gauged Wes Miller's team as the most underrated squad in the AAC.

"Despite stumbling to the finish line with eight losses in its last 10 games -- no, more like face-planting on the asphalt and army-crawling to the finish line -- optimism surrounding Cincinnati's prospects in Year Two under Wes Miller are sky-high," Kyle Boone wrote

"The team brings back most of its core from a squad that made major strides from the season prior," Boone continued. "With six of its top seven scorers returning, including star David DeJulius, and a complementary incoming class led by Memphis transfer Landers Nolley, the Bearcats have the goods to go from bottom half of the league standings to challenging for the No. 2 spot behind Houston and very possibly a bid to the Big Dance to boot."

The site ended up slotting UC in third place on their season-long AAC projections, just behind a top-10 program in Houston and Memphis. Those teams finished first and second in the league last year and were the lone AAC teams to make the NCAA Tournament.

Outside of winning the AAC, That last part is the top priority for UC. Making its first NCAA Tournament since 2019 could prove crucial for continuing the recruiting momentum going into the Big 12, America's toughest basketball conference.

Transfers like Landers Nolley, and Kalu Ezikpe, plus four-star recruits like Josh Reed and Daniel Skillings should boost those tourney chances.

The Bearcats tip off the 2022-23 season on Nov. 7 against Chaminade.
