Report: Former Bearcat Walt Stewart Hired as Linebackers Coach
CINCINNATI — UC football is making more changes to its staff for the 2022 season. According to Pete Thamel, Cincinnati is hiring former player Walt Stewart as the team's linebackers/snipers coach.
He's been at Temple as the Owls' defensive line coach since 2019. In 2018, Stewart coached the defensive line at NIU for one season under head coach Rod Carey. In 2016 and 2017, he coached the defensive line at Eastern Kentucky.
Stewart was a standout defensive lineman at Cincinnati from 2008-12. He racked up 185 tackles and 17.5 sacks across his time in Clifton and was named the team’s most outstanding defensive lineman in 2012. The two-time team captain won four Big East Championships and made four bowl games across his UC career, including the 2009 Allstate Sugar Bowl and 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl.
