Report: Mike Denbrock Joining Brian Kelly at LSU as Tigers' Offensive Coordinator
CINCINNATI — Bearcats offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock is headed to the bayou. According to Pete Thamel, Denbrock's joining his old friend Brian Kelly at LSU as his offensive coordinator.
Denbrock and Kelly have a strong working relationship going back to the former's time under Kelly as an assistant at Notre Dame from 2010-16. He worked in a variety of roles, including tight ends coach (2010-11), outside receivers/passing game coordinator (2012-13), offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach (2014), and the associate head coach/wide receivers coach (2015-16).
Denbrock has been with Cincinnati since Luke Fickell started as head coach in 2017. He also coached alongside Kelly at Grand Valley State in the mid-1990s.
Current quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli is the obvious candidate to replace Denbrock. The former turned down a chance to call plays at Central Michigan to return to his alma mater in 2017.
