Ahmad Gardner Explains why it's Ski Mask Season

Gardner was just named a consensus All-American by the NCAA.

CINCINNATI — The craziness of Early Signing Day is behind us, and the one thing left in the Bearcats sights is the 2021 Cotton Bowl.

A win against No. 1 Alabama punches Cincinnati's ticket to the National Championship game. Consensus All-American Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner has been inundated with praise since the end of the regular season, but he told FOX 19 that he is focused on one thing.

"Yeah, this my look going into this game," Gardner told Joe Danneman about why he's been rocking a ski mask so much lately. "Yeah, you're going to see it before the game too. Like before the game I'm going to have this on. I just feel like it's something that's going to have us locked in. I'm not gonna be the only one like this; It's going to be Coby [Bryant], our whole DB unit. We're going to be locked in.

"It's ski mask season."

Gardner and Coby Bryant were arguably the best cornerback duo in the nation before awards season confirmed that status. The pair was named to more All-America teams than any coverage duo in the nation. They sparked a personal relationship with one of the NFL's best corners.

"I feel like we got it from Jalen Ramsey," Gardner said when asked where the ski mask idea originated. "I talk to him we kick it, so yeah, he's someone that all of us watch. Me, Coby, you know before the game we in the locker room, you know watching his highlights."

The Bearcats battle Alabama on Dec. 31 in the Cotton Bowl. The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
