Freeman leaving Notre Dame would be bad news for the Bearcats. He's reportedly a candidate to replace Kelly.
Taking a candidate for the Notre Dame job off the board increases the chances of the school making a strong push for Luke Fickell. It would also take Freeman off the board as a potential candidate to replace Fickell at the University of Cincinnati if [and that's a big if] he decided to take the Notre Dame job.
