Oklahoma Quarterback Spencer Rattler Entering Transfer Portal

Cincinnati Freshman Evan Prater is projected to take over for Desmond Ridder at quarterback next season.

CINCINNATI — Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler announced he is entering the transfer portal. The redshirt sophomore posted great numbers last season but couldn't hang onto the job in 2021. Freshman Caleb Williams took over after former-Sooner head coach Lincoln Riley benched Rattler against Texas and Williams never let go of the job.

Rattler posted 3,031 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and seven interceptions a year ago en route to a first-team All-Big 12 selection. The former No.1 recruit received offers from programs like Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, and Michigan State. He should have plenty of suitors in a normally frothy transfer market.

Freshman Evan Prater has the Bearcats set at quarterback for the near future. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound thrower appeared in five regular season games this season. Prater finished 5-for-11 passing with 38 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Rattler transferring to Cincinnati is highly unlikely, but something to monitor as the Bearcats try to keep the momentum of this 2021 senior class rolling for years to come.
