In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats enter a new recruiting landscape in the Big 12. UC joins the Power Five this summer, but The Athletic doesn't view the program as a big-time recruiting force moving forward.

Cincinnati landed at No. 48 out of all 69 Power Five teams on the site's recruiting landscape rankings.

"Luke Fickell’s departure hurts the Bearcats," Grace Raynor wrote. "But joining the Big 12 helps. Scott Satterfield should focus on beating out Big Ten schools (and Kentucky) for the prospects in Ohio who Ohio State passes on."

The Bearcats 2023 class got shredded after Fickell left for Wisconsin, so it's unfair to judge Satterfield on that front. Meanwhile, things in 2024 are a pure mystery, as no recruits have committed to UC from that cycle.

Players have already heaped praise on the staff following the first day of Spring Practice, which is a good sign.

There will be plenty of big-name recruits that get to see that player-friendly structure firsthand during visits this spring.
