FSU football lands commitment from JUCO linebacker

The Seminoles added depth to the linebacker room from the JUCO ranks.

The Florida State Seminoles landed their second commitment on Saturday evening after securing a talented offensive lineman in Stephen F. Austin from the FCS ranks. With the defensive ranks, and linebacker in particular, thinning out throughout this 2026 NCAA Transfer Portal cycle, filling holes that left FSU with another disappointing season has remained a priority.

Linebacker Chris Thomas to Join the Seminoles

Northwest Mississippi Community College linebacker Chris Thomas scheduled a visit with the Seminoles, and by Saturday, he signed on with the program. Thomas suffered an ACL injury in November but is expected to recover from his surgery ahead of the 2026 season.

Thomas finished the season with 39 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble. During his freshman campaign in 2024, he added 14 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack.

The 6'2'', 220-pound Southaven, Mississippi native is expected to have two years of eligibility remaining. According to his NWCC bio, he helped the team to a 10-2 overall record, the MACCC Championship, and an appearance in the NJCAA Division I Football Playoffs.

Thomas is the first linebacker that the Seminoles have picked up since the close of Early Signing Day, and likely won't be the only one. Florida State currently has the No. 18 transfer class in the country and the No. 13 composite class for 2026.
