Georgia Tech lands a number of players in ESPN's top 2023 MLB Draft prospects

The 2023 MLB Draft begins on July 9th

The 2023 MLB Draft is quickly approaching (July 9th-11th) and Georgia Tech Baseball is in line to have a number of prospects and committed high school prospects selected.

In their latest 2023 MLB Prospect rankings, ESPN's Kiley McDaniel broke down which Yellow Jackets landed in his list of the top 300 prospects.

Let's break them down here.

1. Drew Burress, CF Houston County High School (GA)- Georgia Tech commit

Burress is the top prospect in Georgia Tech's 2023 recruiting class, which ranks 5th on perfectgame.org. He is the No. 17 high school prospect in the country and could be a possible late first-round selection. He is No. 40 in ESPN's top 300 prospect rankings.

Here is what McDaniel had to say in his scouting report:

"Burress is 5-foot-9 but we're a bit more enlightened now as an industry, so we can look past that when skills are present. Burress has them -- four above-to-plus tools -- and his weakest is power but he's a tightly wound, compact hitter who delivers above average bat speed, so there's some power upside."

2. Tai Peete, SS Trinity Christian High School (GA)- Georgia Tech commit

Peete is right behind Burress in Georgia Tech's 2023 class and is another possible late first-round pick. Peete is No. 45 in ESPN's top 300 prospect rankings.

Here is what McDaniel had to say in his scouting report:

"Peete is a young-for-the-class switch-hitting shortstop who draft-model-reliant clubs love. Unlike Santana, Peete has plus raw power and is also a top-five-rounds prospect on the mound, though he didn't pitch this spring. The risk with Peete is that he's a power-over-hit type, with some teams out for what the price to sign him will be, but there are about three to five clubs that are all in with late first round grades."

3. SS Antonio Anderson, SS North Atlanta High School (GA)- Georgia Tech commit

Anderson is another top 20 prospect in Georgia Tech's 2023 class, along with Burress and Peete. Anderson is No. 72 in ESPN's top 300 rankings.

Here is what McDaniel had to say about the talented Georgia Tech commit:

"6-foot-3, switch-hitting shortstop with a shot to stick at the position and above-average hit/power upside."

4. 2B Kristian Campbell

Georgia Tech 2B Kristian Campbell is likely to be selected in the 2023 MLB Draft

Campbell was second on the team in average this season, hitting .376 with four home runs and 24 RBIs. Campbell ranks

5. CF Jake DeLeo

DeLeo had a fantastic season for Georgia Tech in 2023, hitting .365 with 14 home runs and 52 RBIs. He comes in at No. 282 in ESPN's top 300 prospects.

It will be interesting to see if these guys decide to sign with the team that drafts them or if they decide to play for Georgia Tech in 2024. The MLB Draft begins on July 9th and runs through July 11th.
