Two Georgia Tech Players Recieve Invites to the 2023 NFL Combine

Keion White and Charlie Thomas will participate in the 2023 NFL Combine

There are going to be two former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets participating in this year's NFL Combine.

Linebacker Charlie Thomas and defensive lineman Keion White will be heading to Indianapolis later this month to try and further their cases to be drafted in April. Thomas and White are both coming off of All-Star game appearances last week, with Thomas playing in the East-West Shrine Game and then White sitting out of last Saturday's Senior Bowl.

Charlie Thomas is one of two Georgia Tech invitees to the 2023 NFL Combine

White has seen his draft stock soar in the last month or so, being mentioned in the first rounds of mock drafts by prominent draft analysts, and is being ranked among the top defensive players in the draft. White has supreme athleticism for someone of his size and I think the combine is a perfect setting for him.

Thomas is going to need a good performance in the combine to elevate his draft stock. When you look at the stats, Thomas belongs in the conversation to be drafted, but his size and speed might not be what teams look for in an NFL linebacker. I think Thomas will prove them wrong and turn in a good combine performance. His instincts and ability to track down the ball carrier are good and I think Thomas is one of the most slept-on prospects in the draft.

If White turns in the kind of performance he is capable of, I think it cements him as a first-round pick. Here is a snippet from Bruce Feldman's Freaks list he puts together before each college football season and this is why I think White will dominate the combine:

"White was a devastating player for Old Dominion in 2019, making 19 TFLs. He was 265 then. He transferred to Tech, but then suffered an ankle injury that sidelined him. He’s now 6-4, 290, and primed to be a problem for ACC teams. White has hit 21 mph despite being almost 300 pounds. He also has vertical-jumped 32 inches and done 38 reps of 225 on the bench press.

If he puts up numbers similar to those, his stock is going to soar.

White finished the 2022 season with 7.5 sacks and 54 tackles.

Thomas had a fantastic season that resulted in him earning second-team All-ACC from the AP. He finished the 2022 season with over 100 tackles, had two sacks, two pass deflections, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He was a constant playmaker for the Yellow Jackets and he is not going to be easy to replace next season.

Thomas was an All-ACC honorable mention in 2021 after having 70 total tackles and a team-high 10 for loss. Thomas also had two interceptions last season. He has been on the field for the Yellow Jackets ever since his freshman season.

Other draft-eligible players that won't be at the combine and will instead have to wait for their Pro Day are linebacker Ace Eley, wide receivers EJ Jenkins and Malachi Carter, and running back Hassan Hall.

Best of luck to both guys at the 2023 NFL Combine.
