The Oklahoma State Cowboys will put their four-game winning streak on the line when the face the Houston Cougars on Saturday.

For fans that are unable to be at the game, the contest starts at 6:30 p.m. on Fox and will be broadcast on the Cowboys Radio Network. The game should feature some of the best matchups of the night in the Big 12 and the ESPN crew gave the game a split decision with their predictions on Saturday morning.

It’s a great opportunity for the No. 18 Cowboys (4-1, 2-0 in Big 12) to take a bold step forward against the No. 20 Cougars (5-1, 2-1), who were considered a contender to reach the Big 12 Championship game entering the season.

Below is our live gameday thread, which features the game’s box score, along with pre-game and post-game updates. This thread will be updated throughout the contest. The most recent updates will be at the top.

First Quarter

Houston Second Possession: Cougars Takes Lead

Houston took its second possession and went to work, getting to midfield with a steady diet of runs from runnnng back Makhi Hughes, an Oregon transfer who played under Houston coach Willie Fritz at Tulane in 2023. Houston got into the red zone and scored on a 2-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Conner Weigman to tight end Patrick Overmyer with 2:19 left. The extra point gave the Cougars a 7-3 lead.

It was Overmyer's fifth touchdowns in five quarters of football, going back to last week against Kansas State.

Opening Possessions: OSU Takes 3-0 lead

Oklahoma State won the toss and elected to defer. Houston took the first possession of the game. The Cougars went to the pass early in the drive and got to midfield before quarterback Conner Weigman was sacked by OSU's Jaleel Johnson and Tate Romney.

That sack put the Cougars in a 3rd-and-13 situation and Weigman's pass was tipped in the air and picked off by OSU's LaDainian Fields, who returned it to the Cougars 48-yard line.

OSU took over and struck quickly as the Cowboys got into the red zone and faced a first-and-goal situation, something that has been an issue for OSU this season. The Cowboys failed to score a TD so Sam Keltner came in to kick a 23-yard field goal go to give OSU a 3-0 lead with 8:39 left in the first quarter.

LaDainian Fields did not start for the Cowboys at cornerback. Kollin Lewis and Mo Horn were the starters against the Cougars. Fields did play on the drive.

Final Injury Report

OSU-Houston Injury Report | Big 12 Conference

The Cowboys and Cougars filed their final injury report per the Big 12 on Saturday. One designation for one Houston player stands out and could help Oklahoma State. Our analysis highlights the decision.

Friday Player Availability Report

The Oklahoma State Cowboys ruled three players out for the game on Friday — defensive tackle Landon Dean, safety Mose Phillips III and wide receiver Dayvon Standard. Phillips impacts the starting lineup and Cowboys fans should expect to see Evan Jackson at boundary safety on Saturday.

OSU had no other players listed on Friday’s report so it’s likely the rest of the travel roster will be available. The final player report is available 90 minutes before game time.

For Houston the most notable player to watch is cornerback Jalen Mayo, who was listed as questionable. If he’s unable to play that would impact a starting secondary that has five interceptions but has given up chunks of yardage in the passing game.

Gameday Weather

Per Accuweather, the game time temperature in Houston is expected to be around 72 degrees with 34% humidity and no chance of rain. Winds are expected out of the north east at 9 mph. By 10 p.m., when the game should be winding down, the temperature should be around 64 degrees.

In other words, it will be great weather for a football game in Houston.
