Elite 2022 Combo Guard Jayden Epps Commits to Providence
For the last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic severely limiting exposure, King’s Fork’s (Suffolk, Va.) Jayden Epps has managed to go from under-the-radar to one of the most dynamic combo guards in the 2022 class.
On Monday, the 6-foot-1 scoring guard announced that he would continue his upward trajectory at Providence, picking the Friars over Florida, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Arkansas and N.C. State.

“I built a strong and firm relationship with the coaching staff and the school,” Epps said. “I love it there; it feels like family.”
Epps said he and Providence head coach Ed Cooley had become so close throughout his recruitment that when finally told Cooley he was coming, Cooley became emotional.
“It’s just because of the relationship that we built,” Epps said. “It was about how happy we both were that I’m joining the family.”
Last season, Epps dominated the competition to the tune of 28 points a game for the Bulldogs. When the pandemic sidelined the summer circuit, Epps concentrated on individual workouts and strengthened his all-around game.

This fall, he led the Seen Circuit, an elite fall league in Virginia, in scoring at 26 points a game.
“They run their system through their guards,” Epps said. “They let them make reads and just play ball. That’s how I like to play. They want me to come in and play right away.”
Epps is the Friars’ first commitment from the 2022 class.
