Elite QB Prospect Miller Moss Kicks off Weekly Recruiting Blog

SI All-American continues its blog series on top college football prospects with this introductory piece from California's top uncommitted quarterback recruit, Miller Moss.

Miller Moss is one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 class with scholarship offers from elite programs coast to coast. He has agreed to give Sports Illustrated exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from his experiences leading up to a college commitment as a high profile recruit to his home life and preparation for his senior season.

Hey, guys!

My name is Miller Moss, I've been recruited by over, I would say, 30 schools in the past three years.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be a quarterback. I didn't necessarily know what the recruiting process entailed. At five years old I was playing flag football at the park down the street from my house. I always played quarterback. So it's always been a dream of mine to be recruited and be in this situation where I can have my pick from elite universities and elite college football teams.

That's really been a blessing, just in terms of seeing a lot of my goals come to fruition in the past couple of years.

For those who don't know the recruiting process well, it forces you to accelerate your maturity just because you're fielding calls from everywhere. Texas to New York, Florida, Alabama, Washington, all this kind of stuff. It really forces us to grow up and it puts us in the spotlight at a really young age.

It's been huge, not only helping me in the recruiting process, but also to help me handle other things. If I'm on the phone with Nick Saban, when I walk into my math midterm I'm not really that nervous. That's been a big thing for me in terms of handling the whole process.

Me as a person, I love art. I love school. I have a little sister, Addison Moss, she's awesome. She's probably better at ballet than I am at football [laughing]. She goes to New York every summer and dances at Lincoln Center. We always joke that she's the most athletic person in the family. She's awesome.

My parents are both engineers, which is odd because me and my sister grew up pretty athletic. Our parents were kind of the opposite so it's an interesting combination.

So I'm excited to detail this process with you guys.

Right now, I'm hearing the most from Alabama, LSU, USC, UCLA and Cal. Not to say that those are my final five or anything like that, those are just the ones that I'm in contact with the most.

It's been crazy just because every coach is at home right now. There's  no spring ball, so they've been kind of blowing us up a little bit. It's definitely a good problem to have and I'm grateful for the situation I'm in.

I'm really trying to take this time, and obviously there are bigger issues at hand, I think I've been really lucky in that I've had the opportunity to continue to train. I know some quarterbacks in my class that don't have that opportunity so I'm really trying to kind of set distance between myself and the other guys around the country

That's really my focus for the next month or so. Hopefully this quarantine thing ends sooner rather than later, and we can get back to hopefully spring ball and summer ball.

That's a little bit about myself, I'm looking forward to talking with you guys on a weekly basis.
