Head coach Steve Sarkisian has retooled the Texas Longhorns' coaching staff to fit the Southeastern Conference style and physicality. Now with defensive coordinator Will Muschamp in the mix, Sarkisian will have the chance to have more focus offensively.

PFF gave Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning the 11th best season-level grade amongst quarterbacks. Only Heisman runner-up Diego Pavia and Tenneessee's Joey Aguilar finished with higher grades among Southeastern Conference quarterbacks.

With the transfer portal exit of Liona Lefau, the Texas Longhorns will be shorthanded at linebacker, also down Anthony Hill Jr. and Trey Moore, who have declared for the NFL Draft. This opens up chances for Ty'Antony Smith, Brad Spence and Elijah Barnes.

Jabbar Juluke was hired as the Texas Longhorns' new running backs coach, replacing Chad Scott. Juluke comes from the Florida Gators, where he coached and recruited star running back Jadan Baugh, who could definitely be a name to watch as the portal opens.

The Texas Longhorns fell 71-63 to the No. 5 UConn Huskies in PeoplesBank Arena on Friday night. After a first half in which it gave up 43 points, Texas locked in defensively, but was not able to earn enough free points to rally a comeback effort.

Football

After spending all of October away from Austin in their 2025 season, the Texas Longhorns have an all-in-state October in their 2026 campaign. This means that the Longhorns will leave Texas only once until their ninth game, which is in November.
