UCLA Football: Laiatu Latu's Reaction To Lombardi Nom Cements Rep As A Class Act

Latu is a hell of a player and an even better person

Your UCLA Bruins are heading on the right track as they close out their 2023 NCAA season. On Saturday, they defeated their arch rival USC Trojans, to the tune of a 38-20 blowout, to regain the Victory Bell.

It was a much-needed win, especially after the Bruins' last two games: losing to the two Arizona schools and only scoring a combined 17 points.

The offense was clicking, taking care of the ball, and scoring at will. The defense displayed its prowess after two lackluster performances and brought its A game against their cross-town rivals.

No one performed as great or has performed as great in the county other than UCLA's elite edge rusher, Laiatu Latu. Latu has performed at an elite level all season long, and because of it, he was named a finalist for the prestigious Rotary Lombardi Award.

The Lombardi Award is given to the best college football lineman of the year. Latu was named a finalist earlier this week, but he didn't care about that. He just wanted to win and talked about that in his post-game press conference.

The senior lineman had himself a great against the Trojans, recording seven total tackles, two sacks, and two tackles for loss. There was no stopping the future first-round draft pick, and he's displayed this type of performance all of 2023.

It's no surprise that he is a finalist for almost every defensive award. Considering all he's been through, including being medically retired due to a significant neck injury, he's grateful to not only be on the field but to play at an elite level week in and week out.

Latu is not only a great player but an even better person and teammate. He cares about winning; he is as unselfish as they come, and we cannot wait to see him dominate at the next level.
