At the request of the Jamail family, Joe Jamail Field will be renamed to honor UT legends Ricky Williams and Earl Campbell. Dahr Jamail, whose father the field is named after, said that the request was made as a protest against the racial injustice that has been at the forefront of national conversation. Jamail was also quoted as saying, “The country is leaderless. At least people that will see this, maybe it will inspire somebody to do something else. It’s just one step on the road to making things better. But when we lift other people up, we lift ourselves up.”
