Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey, reportedly out celebrating their shared birthday last night, seized the opportunity to protest the (they must somehow believe?) unjust incarceration of their former Florida teammate, suspected murderer Aaron Hernandez. It's a puzzling fashion choice for the Pouncey bros, who were supposedly out with Hernandez in Gainesville the night in 2007 where a shooting occurred for which he and other former Gator Reggie Nelson were questioned by police.
Also puzzling: Why anyone, based on everything that's come out the past few weeks, would still be friends with Hernandez.
Update: The Steelers plan to speak to Maurkice Pouncey about the situation; Mike Pouncey will presumably be hearing from the Dolphins about it as well.
Update II: Maurkice Pouncey has issued an apology. “I fully recognize the seriousness of the situation involving my former teammate,” Pouncey wrote on Twitter. “and I regret that my actions appear to make light of that serious situation. I apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions.”
