UConn introduces horse named after Shabazz Napier

Tuesday October 14th, 2014

Shabazz Napier may be playing for the Miami Heat, but there's still at least one Shabazz on UConn's campus this year. The school has named a horse at its on-campus animal barns "UC Shabazz" since he was born during the Huskies' championship run last spring.

Replace @shabazznap13r? Impossible. But we promise you’ll still get a kick out of this little guy, who was born in the midst of March Madness. Meet the newest member of our team over at Horsebarn Hill, UC Shabazz.

UC Shabazz, not to be confused with UCLA Shabazz (Muhammad), is living at the barns used by UConn's animal science department, also home to the famous ice cream creamery.

But as one Twitter user pointed out, the school missed a golden opportunity to name the horse "Shabazz NEIGHpier."
