49ers' Jonathan Martin foils shoplifting attempt at Versace store

Jonathan Martin was out shopping for some fresh Versace gear on Thursday when he noticed someone grab three purses and try to run out of the store. The 49ers offensive lineman decided to stop the criminal before he had a chance to get out of the store.

Jonathan Martin was out shopping in Los Angeles on Thursday when he noticed a pair of shoplifters grab some purses from the Versace store and try to run. The 49ers offensive lineman saw a security guard struggling with one of the alleged thieves and helped out.

Yahoo spoke with Martin after his foray into crime fighting, and the offensive lineman said he reacted as soon as he saw what was happening in the store.

“I didn't even think,” Martin told Shutdown Corner on Thursday night. “I just reacted. It wasn't 'til later when [my friend] said, 'He could have had a gun.' I didn't even think about it. I just wanted to help.”

Martin came to the forefront of the NFL during the Miami Dolphin bullying scandal two seasons ago. He started nine games in his first season with San Francisco.
