San Francisco Giants rightfielder Hunter Pence crushed a grand slam during his team’s 12–6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, but Giants play-by-play announcer Jon Miller just barely avoided giving the credit to one of his teammates instead.

As Pence crushed the 1–0 slider from Pedro Baez into the left field stands, Miller made the call with all the gusto expected from a longtime announcer. What came next was an announcer’s worst nightmare, as Miller started to give the credit to star catcher Buster Posey.

“A grand slam for Buster Posey... ’s good friend Hunter Pence,” Miller said with a pause.

Here’s a look at Pence’s bomb, which happens to be the second grand slam in the league this season.

Posey does bat just behind Pence in the Giants batting order, so I guess we gave Miller a pass this time.
