David Wright (no, not that one) will be on "Survivor" this season

Thursday September 15th, 2016

David Wright will be on the upcoming season of Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X, but it's not the David Wright of the New York Mets.

This David Wright is a television writer, but much like the other David Wright, he knows a thing or two about competition. One of Survivor Wright's claim to fame is the fact that he is an avid chess player and played against world champion Magnus Carlsen in 2015.

He will be part of the Gen-X tribe. After a quick browse through the cast, there are no professional athletes on the show this season. Last season, former NBA champion Scot Pollard finished eighth, having survived 27 days before being voted off.

The 33rd season of Survivor begins next Wednesday.
