Dak Prescott passed up Kanye tickets to watch Texans-Patriots

Dak Prescott could have gone to see Kanye West, but he watched a lousy football game instead.

What do you remember about Week 3’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the Patriots and Texans? Would you have chosen to watch it over an opportunity to see perhaps the greatest performer alive?

Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel has a profile of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in this week’s magazine that reveals Prescott was offered tickets to Kanye West’s show in Dallas and declined. Why? To watch some unmemorable football.

Prescott did the math aloud: Kanye will go on after 9. The show will last a few hours, which means getting home after midnight. The decision was clear. He offered the tickets to his childhood friend, Cobi Griffin, who declined. So Dak kicked back in a recliner, Cobi sprawled on the couch and the two spent the night flipping between a Texans-Patriots game and Clemson--Georgia Tech. "I wanted to go a little bit," Prescott said of the concert. "But I just think about the perception of it all. And I love my sleep."

The Patriots won the game 27–0 behind rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who was filling in for Jimmy Garoppolo. Brissett was taken 44 spots ahead of Prescott in this year’s draft, so maybe Dak just wanted to see what the Pats saw in him.
