Laurie Hernandez’s paso doble places her fifth on DWTS this week

Laurie Hernandez struggled a bit just a week after earning a perfect score on Dancing With The Stars, earning a score of 25 for her paso doble with partner Val Chmerkovisky on Monday.

The performance placed the pair in fifth place.

Hernandez appeared in a video, teary-eyed, discussing the pressure that a perfect score brings. She said she “messed up” on the night, while one judge, Julianne Hough, thought the dance was fine.

Hernandez and Chmrekovisky are still squarely in the middle of the leaderboard, with several pairs failing to capitalize.

Driver James Hinchclife and Sharna Burgess found themselves atop the standings after earning a 29 for their tango.
