Tyronn Lue wishes his players knew the defense as well as their handshakes

Typical coach response.

Defense has been a problem for the Cavaliers this season, but handshakes haven’t.

Since the start of the season, the Cavs have been busting out elaborate handshakes that look like they take a while to practice. Perhaps too long, if you ask head coach Tyronn Lue.

Lue was asked about the handshakes after Wednesday’s practice and couldn’t resist the opportunity to rib his players a little bit.

“I wish we could remember some of our defensive schemes that well,” he said.

That’s a fair point, but what’s more fun to practice—intricate handshakes or defensive rotations on a screen and roll?
