Since our inception 60 years ago, Sports Illustrated has recognized the best up-and-coming amateur athletes from around the country. Now, we are introducing the SI High School Athlete of the Month, presented by the U.S. Marine Corps, which will acknowledge not only students’ athletic achievements, but also the sort of exceptional character traits -- perseverance, integrity, academic success, selflessness and sportsmanship -- that make them leaders on the field, in the classroom and throughout their communities.

We're looking for athletes across the nation whose impact goes beyond the scoreboard. Students in all sports will be considered, and each month SI will spotlight one whose efforts deserve recognition. In June we will select the SI High School Athlete of the Year from among the monthly winners and other candidates.

Do you know an accomplished student who goes above and beyond? Let us know in the nomination form below why he or she should be featured online and in the magazine during the coming school year. Be sure to visit SI.com in early October, when the first High School Athlete of the Month will be announced.
