SI High School Athlete of the Month: Porter Milner
On Thursday, April 21, Sports Illustrated traveled to Broomfield High in Broomfield, Colo., to honor senior soccer captain Porter Milner as the SI High School Athlete of the Month for March, presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. Here, he smiles with his parents, Fran and Tom.
Porter was honored in front of his classmates at halftime of a girls’ soccer game. Porter was featured in the March 21, 2016 issue of Sports Illustrated.

Porter took the mic and surprised his girlfriend, Eva Bianchi-Martinez, with an invitation to prom at the end of his award presentation, complete with a mock cover of Sports Illustrated featuring the pair.
She said yes!
Porter poses with Jermaine Jones, an attacking midfielder who recently signed with the Rapids and scored the equalizing goal in a 2014 World Cup draw against Portugal to help the U.S. advance to the round of 16.
SSgt David Hall and recruit, Garrett Brown of Mountain Range High in nearby Westminster, Colo., were on hand to represent the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jones stuck around to answer questions from student-reporters for The Eagle Way, Broomfield High’s student newspaper.
