As the 2022-23 high school basketball season tips off over the next month, SBLive Sports will be highlighting some of the top players at their position entering the new year.
Here are 20 combo guards in high school boys basketball with sky-high expectations for the 2022-23 season (The list is in alphabetical order.):
Taison Chatman, Senior, Totino-Grace (Minnesota)
The No. 44 overall player in the class of 2023, Chatman led Totino-Grace to a Class 3A state title last season. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is the second-highest-ranked commit in Ohio State’s No. 5 recruiting class in the country.
Freddie Dilione, Senior, Word of God (North Carolina)
A four-star prospect who committed to the Tennessee Volunteers in August, Dilione leads the charge for the No. 22 team in the preseason SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25 national rankings. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists per game last year with the Rams.
Isaiah Elohim, Junior, Sierra Canyon (California)
Elohim is entering his second season with Bronny James and No. 15 Sierra Canyon after transferring from Heritage Christian (California). The 6-foot-5 guard is the No. 12 junior in the nation and holds offers from Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA, Oregon and more.
Boogie Fland, Junior, Archbishop Stepinac (New York)
Another elite guard from the Empire State, Fland is a smooth scorer and playmaker. The 6-foot-3 guard holds offers from Kansas, Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina and more of the nation’s top college programs.
Dylan Harper, Junior, Don Bosco (New Jersey)
New Jersey’s Don Bosco Prep is home to the top-ranked combo guard in the junior class. Harper spent an official visit with the Duke Blue Devils in late October.
