Bronny James Has Honest Response to Recruiting Efforts by Other Top Prospects

Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James, remains undecided on  his future basketball plans nearly a month after his high school career ended.

James recorded a stellar senior season at Sierra Canyon, garnering further national attention as well as increasing his stock in the recent McDonald’s All-American game. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard finished with 15 points, four assists and two steals in 19 minutes despite Bronny’s West team losing 107–106.

While the basketball community patiently waits to hear of Bronny’s future plans, other top prospects around the country have not shied away from recruiting him to their school. However, Bronny remains focused on making a decision that is best for him.

“You know, it’s fun times,” James told KGW-TV in Portland. “Good to joke with them. Talking to them, talking to the coaches. It’s good to know they want me there with them. But at the end of the day, it’s my decision and I need to make the right one for me.”

Isaiah Collier, a five-star point guard out of Marietta, Ga., and the No. 1 recruit in the country, signed with USC. He is one of a few seeking to get Bronny to join the Trojans’ program.

“He’s [James] a great shooter,” Collier told 247Sports Eric Bossi in March. “I feel like he’s one of the best all-around players in the country. So, he’s a great player and knows how to play the game and he’s not going to overdo anything.”

James could potentially leave high school and enter the NBA G League, play for Overtime Elite, play in an overseas league or elect to play college basketball. His parents have previously stated that he is leaning more toward the college route.

If Bronny chooses to play college basketball, Luca Evans of the Los Angeles Times reported in January that he would likely choose between Ohio State, USC and Oregon. At the time, James confirmed that all three schools were viable options for him but that his recruitment was still open.

Currently, James is preparing to play in the Nike Hoops Summit in Portland this weekend. He is eligible to enter the NBA draft as early as 2024.
